- The LIWLRA was started in De Smet, South Dakota in 2009.
- The LIWLRA achieved 501(c)3 nonprofit status in 2016.
- The first LauraPalooza conference was held in Mankato, Minnesota in July 2010.
- The second LauraPalooza conference was held in Mankato, Minnesota in July 2012.

- The LIWLRA is an international organization currently headquartered in Iowa with members the world over.
- The LIWLRA equally supports all of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s homesites and museums across the country.
- The Laura Ingalls Wilder Home and Museum in Mansfield, Missouri, where Laura lived from age 27 to her death at 90, and where she wrote the entire “Little House” series, was the recipient of our first $1,000 donation in September 2013, and a second $1,000 donation in April 2016. Additional donations have been made to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Memorial Society in De Smet, South Dakota and the Laura Ingalls Wilder Memorial Society in Mansfield, Missouri.
- The Board meets every month via phone conference, and more often surrounding conferences.
- Conference work is done voluntarily and by committee.
- The president of the LIWLRA from 2010-2013 was Amy Lauters. The president from 2014-2015 was Sarah Uthoff. The current president is Laura McLemore.
- Board members are nominated by members, and voted on, and appointed by, the Board.
