We’ve gotten some questions and comments about taping at LauraPalooza. Other than the videos that have been posted on YouTube, we didn’t do any official taping last time. While we set out this time with the intention of recording and making it available, limits in man power and equipment have torpedoed efforts for both audio only and video recordings. We did ask speakers for permission to record and most gave permission. A few refused. At this point we decided to suspend official efforts for recording this year’s conference.
However, people are welcome to tape for their own uses, except for those presenters who’ve asked not to be recorded. Sarah Uthoff will also produce a series of video diaries like last time. We’re sorry that we’re not able to do something more formal at this point, but we’re hopeful that we will include some kind of official recording next time.
With that in mind, which of the following would be your preference for future conferences?
- Audio only recording for sale?
- Video only recording for sale?
- Some other delivery system?

As a future idea: live web streaming? Then again, who knows what technological wonders might be available to us in 3 years! 🙂
Adding to the complexity of filming, model releases are often required if there is a desire to make likenesses public. This includes both speakers and audience. I know of two organizations that have been caught with this before.
