Does anyone want to experience a wagon train? Check out this article in the online Jamestown (N. Dakota) Sun about the 44th annual Fort Seward Wagon Train. I asked my husband if he would do it with me next year and he was all for it. Of course, I know it will probably not happen, but it would be a neat experience, don’t you agree?
If you’re done this, or something similar, chime in and tell us about it!

You have to know I would absolutely do this. We have a year to plan, Laura Welser. Let’s!
AWESOME!
Many years ago, when I was in the Girl Scouts, one of the Wider Opportunities (camps and activities available to scouts from across the country) offered one summer was a covered wagon trip. I didn’t go (I went to an art/music/dance camp) but at the end of the summer, all the local girls who had attended these events were invited to come to a meeting to talk about it. I still remember the description from the girl who went on the covered wagon trip. “Pioneers sure it hard!”
Didn’t exactly make me want to sign up!
Sounds fun, though I would need to know more about restroom facilities.,,,
Oh, I want to go, too!
Lauri, I’m with you. Sounds good until I want a hot bath, hot water, air conditioning, fans, and a comfy bed. (ha ha)
That’s next year’s “vacation” organised….absolutely…positively!
There’s a guy here in KS that does an overnight wagon train trip through the Flint Hills. I’ve always wanted to go. Perhaps we could arrange an LIW trip with someone.
Yes, if you’ve ever watched the PBS series Frontier House (came out in 2002, now syndicated on cable channel GAC) those did their wagon train 2 days & were practically falling out. In case you’re not familiar, it’s a reality series about life on the frontier in the 1880s, and three families agreed to do it for 6 months.
