Many people are familiar with the bust of Laura Ingalls Wilder in the Mansfield town square, but many people don’t understand why it’s there. The bust is actual there because of a project called Hall of Famous Missourians. The project was to create a hall of busts in the State Capitol building in Jefferson City, Missouri between the house and senate chambers. The first bust added was Mark Twain back in 1982 and they have been added on an irregular basis ever since with Laura joining their ranks on September 15, 1993.
